At this point you may have all of your gifts purchased and wrapped, the house clean and decorated, the cookies baked, the cards sent, and your Christmas Day menu planned… or, you may not. Wouldn’t you love to be able to take at least one thing off your list and let someone else do it for you?
Fortunately, we are lucky enough to live in an area that is abundant with amazing Vermont bakeries, filled with chefs just waiting to wow you. Scratch one thing off your list and let the experts take care of that dessert you offered to bring! Here is a list of some local Vermont bakeries that can help you out:
Healthy Living Bake Shop – Located within the Healthy Living Market the bake shop offers lots of tasty treats and special orders. You can pick up some last minute groceries while you’re there as well!
Mirabelles – A Burlington favorite, they have a menu dedicated to holiday baking. Pick up a box or tray of cookies, fruitcake or one of their French specialties!
Barrio Bakery & Cafe – This neighborhood bakery is located in Burlington’s Old North End. They have an extensive Holiday Bakery menu including Buche de Noel, Eggnog Cheesecake, and Peppermint Bark Cake. They also do trays of assorted Christmas cookies.
August First Bakery & Cafe – Head over here for cookies, scones, and brownies. Their signature pastry is the Hungarian Roll, perfect for a holiday breakfast or brunch!
Chef’s Corner – located in Williston and Burlington they not only have an extensive holiday baked goods menu but can help you out with other parts of the meal as well. Hors d’oeuvres and side dishes are available to pick up and take with you wherever you’re going!
The Bakery at the Farmhouse Kitchen – located on Pine St. in Burlington, they use locally sourced ingredients and are the makers of the famous Almond Crunch Cake. It comes in over 20 seasonal flavors and this time of year you can order varieties like Winter Pear or Chocolate Drizzle. Yum.
Many of these places have their menus online, making ordering a cinch. Let them help you with your gift list too! Cookies make great gifts at this time of year. Order up several dozen, wrap them up nicely, and hand them out as gifts to teachers, neighbors, the mailman, etc.
